The Nanophysics track offers fundamental and applied courses on the physical properties, growth, nano-fabrication, and advanced characterization of nanostructures.

It covers topics from crystal growth, quantum transport, photonics, nanomagnetism, spintronics,  applications (energy, microelectronics, sensors…) and nanofabrication techniques. The program combines high level courses and trainings on top-level equipments of research laboratories and clean rooms facilities of the Grenoble area.

The first year of the program is the M1 Nanophysics Quantum physics which is common to three tracks of the Master Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies. It provides students with a fundamental knowledge in quantum physics, solid state physics, semi-conductors and optics.

The second year of the program is the M2 Nanophysics. The first semester is devoted to advanced courses, which are completed in the second semester by a Master thesis, realized during a full-time research internship of a minimum of 5 months from February to June, in a research laboratory.

Students in this track can also participate to the Graduate School program Quantum.

The Nanophysics track is accessible in the 1rst year to students having completed a Bachelor in Physics. Direct admission in the 2nd year is also possible. The M2 also welcomes EMM Nano+ students who did their M1 in KU Leuven.

First year - 60 ECTS

Second year - Fall semester - 30 ECTS

Core courses : 9 credits

Applications : 9 among 12 credits

Specializing courses : 6 credits

2nd year Quantum thematic program courses :

Thematic and interdisciplinary projects : 6 ECTS

Application courses may be replaced by courses taken from another Master 2 track after a formal approval by the Master 2 supervisor.

Second year - Spring semester - 30 ECTS
