Microcapsules are biomimetics microparticules of red blood cells. They are made from a liquid droplet protected by an elastic membrane. They are widely used in industry to protect and control the delivery of molecules in pharmaceutics, food science, detergents, etc. For these applications it is crucial to control the mechanical properties of the shell and also the fate of microcapsules in flow. In this talk, we will discuss about experimental works concerning the dynamics and the stability of microcapsules in flow in relation with the structure and the rheological properties of their membrane.
