Polymer nanoparticles are widely sought after for scientific and industrial applications such as nanomedicine, photonics, emulsion stabilizers, etc. Usually, colloids with well-controlled properties are required which highly depend on
the fabrication method employed. Flash nanoprecipitation (FNP) is a promising technique that exploits rapid micromixing of polymers in solution and a miscible poor solvent. In this talk, I will highlight several challenges related to FNP such as
solvent trapping, fabrication of colloids of the desired morphology, and how one can gain a better understanding of the underlying processes by employing molecular dynamics simulations at atomistic and coarse-grained levels.
